          Here is a look at the chronology of Channel 294, 106.7mhz, Lake Oswego, Oregon.  This chronology covers 1969 to 1979, basically covering the KQ4 years and the immediate fallout.  From the files of Robert A. March, 1969 -- Willamette Broadcasting Inc., Dearborn, Michigan. Seeks Construction Permit for new broadcast station on Channel 294 (106.7 MHz) to serve Lake Oswego, Oregon. Principals: Russell J. Gibb, Paul Carnegie.
 

April, 1969 -- Republic Broadcasting Co., Oregon City, Oregon. Seeks Construction Permit for new broadcast station on Channel 294 (106.7 MHz) to serve Oregon City. Principals: KIMN Broadcasting Co.; Kenneth E. Palmer, president; John C. Hunter, vice-president. Principals own KIMN Denver, and KYXI (1520 KHz) Oregon City.


October 24, 1969 -- Walter J. M. Kraus, Lake Oswego, Oregon. Robert A. McClanathan, P.E., files ‘Application for Authority to Construct a New Broadcast Station’ (FCC Form 301) on Ch. 294 (106.7 MHz) to serve Oregon City. Studio location: Oregon City Shopping Center, Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard, Oregon City. Transmitter location: 45° 22’ 55” N Latitude, 122° 31’ 11” W Longitude. Transmitter: Gates FM-20H (20 KW rated output). Antenna: Jampro JSCP-10 (ten sections). Effective Radiated Power: 100 KW (H & V).

 
1970 -- Walter J. M. Kraus purchases Willamette Broadcasting Inc. of Dearborn.

 
October 25, 1971 -- Willamette Broadcasting Co., Inc. Granted Construction Permit for new FM broadcast station on Ch. 294 (106.7 MHz).  Permit requires construction to be commenced by December 25, 1971 and completed by October 25, 1972. (FCC File: BPH-7047)

 
December 27, 1971 -- Willamette Broadcasting Co., Inc. Granted call letters, KQIV.

 
June 14, 1972 -- Robert A. McClanathan, P.E., files revised FCC Form 301 requesting the following changes: Studio location: 17979 Southwest Stafford Road, Lake Oswego. Transmitter: American Electronic Laboratories AEL FM-25KD (25 KW rated output). Antenna: Jampro JSCP-8 (eight sections).

 
July, 1972 -- Willamette Broadcasting Co., Inc. Granted License to operate station KQIV.

 
September 15, 1972 -- KQIV begins on-air operation at 106.7 MHz.

 
June, 1974 -- Willamette Broadcasting Co., Inc. Seeks Assignment of License to The KQIV Broadcasting Corporation for $350,000. Seller: Walter J. M. Kraus. Buyer: Herbert Gross, owner KLFD AM-FM, Litchfield, Minnesota. Dismissed by mutual consent, May 10, 1975. (FCC File: BALH-2007)

 
June 16, 1975 -- Willamette Broadcasting Co., Inc. Granted modification of Construction Permit to move studios outside city of service: 4139 Southeast Harrison Street, Milwaukie, Oregon. (FCC File: BMPH-14417)

 
March 26, 1976 – Willamette Broadcasting Co., Inc. Request for Subsidiary Communications Authorization on a sub-carrier frequency of 67 KHz. (FCC File: BSCA-1579)

 
May 17, 1976 -- Willamette Broadcasting Co., Inc. Granted Involuntary Assignment of License to John W. Kendall, Receiver. (FCC File: BALH-2249)

 
June 18, 1976 -- KQIV ceases operation and leaves the air.

 
November, 1976 -- John W. Kendall, Receiver. Seeks Assignment of License to Communico Northwest Corporation. (FCC File: BALH-2370)

 
April 12, 1977 -- John W. Kendall, Receiver. Granted Construction Permit to change Transmitter Location: Southeast Ridgeway Drive, Mt. Scott, Clackamas Division, Oregon, and change Studio Location/Remote Control: 122 Southwest 3rd Avenue, Portland. (FCC File: BPH-10362)   

 
April 12, 1977 -- John W. Kendall, Receiver. Granted Assignment of License to Communico Northwest Corporation for $250,000. (FCC File: BALH-2370)

 
August 1, 1977 -- Communico Northwest Corporation. Granted change to call sign KMJK.

 
November 22, 1977 -- Communico Northwest Corporation. Granted License to operate station KMJK. (FCC File: BLH-7477)
